A analysis of 2 different companies Social Media usage.

The first organization I am researching is a local restaurant called Honeypie. Firstly their website lists their social media at the bottom of the main page, which I usually like. When I want to follow and learn more about a place, I tend to look in that area for social media Links; instagram, facebook, twitter, and tumblr are all included.

I am going to just concentrate on the Facebook & Twitter pages. Both pages seem to promote the restaurant, and let customers know of specials and menu changes. The twitter page is mostly data from instagram and basic updates. The Facebook page is much more in depth and has pictures to go with the changes in menu and promotions.

The Twitter page is kind of lackluster, only following 31 mostly competitor’s restaurants. There are a lot of tweets but not a lot of substance to them, just data on what's available that day/week. Which if you are a long-time customer and just want to know the updates, that's good but if you have never been there before it isn’t very helpful to get the vibe of the place.

The facebook page is a lot more inviting, more thought put into the content, they have review with user submitted content. Only things I don't like is the logo (profile pic) doesn't stand out, and the cover page is kind of hard to tell this is a business, or just someone who likes pie.

The facebook page links to the twitter page pretty nicely, but not vice versa, but both do go back to the main website.

It looks like their audience is primarily repeat customers, people who have been there already and are looking for new things to try. Mostly adults 21+.

The second organization I am going to look at is more technology oriented and global, AMD. Their twitter account mainly is what I will be looking at. It is mostly for news about AMD products and partnerships. Also, to promote their brand.

Their twitter page has a lot of links to different reviews and articles featuring AMD products. Lots of retweets from manufacturers that utilize the products they make. Different events they host and organizations they donate to. I like the very technical details they put in to the tweets, you can tell they have a team dedicated just to twitter let alone social media.

They have a lot of followers, around ½ million which would be expected for a company this size, follow around 1500 other twitter users, which is pretty good for a corporate account. The bio section is very direct and has the appropriate into in it. The profile picture and header graphics looks very professional.

Only really can see is it's almost too much info, it kind of gets cluttered with info.

You can tell the audience is definitely people who are pc/technology oriented, and know what AMD is in general at least. I believe they have different twitter profiles for the different areas of the company which is good. They can kind of custom tune the audience to which area you are trying to get attention from and get info to.
