TED Talks discussion: The new generation of computers is programming itself

Image
I just watched the TED Talks presentation from the April 2010 conference, about future AI usage and computer learning titled; The new generation of computers is programming itself . The speaker Sebastian Thrun talked about how he believes humanity can benefit from computers learning to program themselves. This would open up other opportunities for humans to develop differently and remove unnecessary tasks from society. I thought this discussion was extremely interesting, not just speaking of what they think is possibly but positive social advantages to having AI take over things to let humans be more free, to create and learn. Some of the same technology that was used for creating a self-driving care was also being used in testing screening skin cancers. That’s a AI usage I hadn’t thought of and the way they described it seems like a very beneficial usage. Having an app to pre-screen yourself with more than 90% accuracy and then go to a doctors for verification. Th...

My thoughts on twit.tv's podcast “IOS TODAY 365 BEST APPS FOR YOUR PETS”

I recently watched the video podcast “IOS TODAY 365 BEST APPS FOR YOUR PETS” episode. Posted 10/17/2017 on https://twit.tv . This was my first time watching this podcast, it interested me because I actually do let my cat attack one of my monitors and look for ways to entertain him so that he doesn’t bother me when I am using my PC. While the shows is designed pretty well with the layout of the broadcast, the audio quality was good. I didn’t think the content was that good. Most of the time they talked about trial apps, Cat Game! that were basically pay to play kids games, or pay for services that I didn’t really have a use for. When they did go in to something that I found interesting like the GPS tracker for dogs there was nothing about the technical aspects of this just basically, “yeah it’s cool”. I want to know what kind of GPS it uses or what sort of services can use it, does it run on cellular or how do it actually send the data to the users. I saw that it was a pay fo...

A analysis of 2 different companies Social Media usage.

The first organization I am researching is a local restaurant called Honeypie. Firstly their website lists their social media at the bottom of the main page, which I usually like. When I want to follow and learn more about a place, I tend to look in that area for social media Links; instagram, facebook, twitter, and tumblr are all included. I am going to just concentrate on the Facebook & Twitter pages. Both pages seem to promote the restaurant, and let customers know of specials and menu changes. The twitter page is mostly data from instagram and basic updates. The Facebook page is much more in depth and has pictures to go with the changes in menu and promotions. The Twitter page is kind of lackluster, only following 31 mostly competitor’s restaurants. There are a lot of tweets but not a lot of substance to them, just data on what's available that day/week. Which if you are a long-time customer and just want to know the updates, that's good but if you have neve...

Why I am attending MATC

I choose to restart my academic program at MATC because I want to create some thing. I have been doing IT Support helping people for a long time. I want to actually make some thing instead of just helping fix things that other people made that have mistakes. I have started the Mobile application development program to further my career and move in to a position out side of a support structure and more of a development role. This should find me with more opportunities to grow in the direction I want. Having a pretty good base of IT I think is a good starting point, I just want to be more specialized.
